I would like to talk about these new weight loss drugs which are coming onto the market that might be on the market already ozempic. And we’ll go V. Because I think, I think it’s really important, I think it’s really important talk about think it’s really important to think about, and to be as educated as we possibly can be about this. Because it’s our bodies, it’s our health, it’s all these things. It’s our loved ones. So going in with eyes wide open before we start making any decisions about what it is that we’re doing to our bodies, we’re putting into our bodies, what the short term effect is going to be what the long term effects and impacts are going to be. Because I do believe that there is some confusion, and and there’s definitely money involved. So if, if history is a guide for any of us, then we’d need to come to the recognition or realize that when there are really high stakes with your health and with big money, then we need to be really judicious in how we’re making decisions about things. So reading the Wall Street Journal article, which I will certainly link in the comments or the notes or whatever. And the headline is obesity could be farmers, biggest blockbuster, yet. So exciting news for them. Exciting news for Pharma. That’s awesome coming on the heels of the former biggest blockbuster yet, which was obviously the vaccines. Cool that that they’re going to get another another home run with this one. So awesome news. So the problem here is that 40% of American adults are obese, then that is a massive problem, which is a little bit of a pun there accidental pawn, which are the best kinds of pawns. So it’s a massive problem. And looking for solutions. There are lots of solutions to obesity. Obviously, dietary choices, solution, exercise, fitness solution, new one, though, check this one out over here, a pharmaceutical intervention. So I can just take a pill, and I won’t be obese anymore. Or I can get my butt out of bed in the morning and go for a run and I can stop eating this food. That’s really delicious. Well, I’ll probably just take that pill, where can I get it? Well, the good news was Olympic, and we’ll go V soon becoming to doctor’s office near you. So pharmaceutical companies have estimated that the market is going to be upwards of $50 billion. So you know, if you’re like me, and you’re like, I don’t even know what that means anymore. It seems like we throw billions around and trillions around very, very casually. The rest assured that is a lot of money. It’s a massive amount of money. So it’s very, very attractive to a corporation whose job is to make money, make profit $50 billion market big opportunity. And stop me if you’ve heard this one, before. From this Wall Street Journal article, they were referencing or providing a quote from a Wall Street analysts talking about the potential for this market. And this person said, there hasn’t been anything safe and effective to treat obesity pretty much ever safe and effective. Is that what this is? Is that what these are? But well, that’s exciting. Okay, so what’s really going on here? What is this? Again? That’s the question, what’s the problem? What are our proposed solutions to the problem? And let’s sort of cut through the BS, read between the lines and figure out what’s really going on here. So let’s start by talking about what is this thing what is ozempic? And what is will go V? Well, it is it is a drug that that mimics a naturally occurring hormone in your body. And what it is designed to do is satiate your hunger so it makes you feel like you’re full. And how is it delivered? It’s actually delivered in the form of a shot It’s like an epi pen that you stick right in your stomach. Okay, so you’re introducing this drug, which again mimics a hormone, which tells your body that you’re full, which then theoretically speaking, causes you to not shove copious amounts of food into your face, which is why you’re overweight in the first place. So that’s the intervention. Give yourself shot. So you won’t feel like you need to eat more, and then you’ll eat less. Okay. Fair enough. What is the result going to be? Well, from this article, it talks about how you can experience a 15% loss in your overall body weight. Okay, well, that’s obviously pretty substantial. 15% loss of body weight. Pretty powerful thing. How much does it cost? How much does this miracle drug cost? Well costs over $10,000 a year, over $10,000 a year. I’ve read earlier articles when I first started learning about this that talked about $1,000 a month. So like anything else, some of them were probably going to be more expensive than others. So that is what it is. Okay, so $1,000 a month, $10,000 a year? That’s a lot of money. How long do you take it for? Just like one time or a year? You take it forever? Oh, wow. Okay, so the drug company, pharmaceutical companies are getting me a new habit. And I keep using their drug forever. Do I have that right? And this new habit is going to cost me or somebody 10 grand a year? How are we going to pay for all this? And believe it or not, they’re working to figure that out? Trying to figure out if we can get Medicare to cover this. So then the individual person doesn’t even have to pay for it. The government will pay for it. Wow. Awesome. What a perfect. What a perfect solution reminds me a little bit, little bit of student loans. And how once the government was going to start providing loans, the cost of education went up. Anyway, that’s a that’s a bit of a side note right there. That if you’ve ever been curious as to why it is that the cost of education went up so high. Now once universities realized that there was a limitless supply of money, well, they took advantage of it. So cost $10,000 A year, you take it forever. Because once you go off it Well, unless you’ve changed your habits, you’re just going to go right back to where you were before. And theoretically speaking, and practically speaking, you will regain your weight unless you’ve actually changed lifestyle, and are making new, healthy, beneficial choices about diet exercise, then you’ll just put the weight back on. Is it just that easy? Do we did then just go back to business as usual? Well, no. Because here’s, here’s the thing. Here’s the real thing. caused me to lose weight, cost a lot of money. But what does it also do? What is this drug? Also doing? What is this safe and effective drug also doing to my body? I just watched a 60 minutes clip. And I’ll also link that in the in the notes. And it was a medical doctor. And she starts off by talking about how how you know what, obesity is such a big problem. Such a big problem. And it’s it’s not your fault. There are things beyond your control that lead to you being obese. And this is a really tricky one. I think that there’s truth in that but there’s also not truth in that as somebody who’s been overweight. I know that it was directly within my control. And I don’t know that there’s too many more dangerous phrases in the English language that telling a human being that this is out of your control, because you’re taking away agency from them. There’s nothing you can do about this. It’s not your fault. Just take this, you’re gonna be okay. We’ll take care of it for you.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank goodness there’s somebody out there looking after my health and well gain. Because without them, where would I possibly be? And I’ve I’ve had great conversations with people that are way smarter than I am. And I don’t know anything about this stuff. I everything that I know about me. It’s just from my personal experience, my end anecdotal experience. So I’m always happy to have a conversation about that. And whether or not my physical health is within my control, or it’s just, you know, beyond my beyond my control. But then, I think it was Leslie Stahl asks this medical doctor, what are the side effects, anything bad that can happen. And she references nausea, nausea, so you get nauseous for a little bit. But how you counteract that is you just you start with a small dose of this miracle drug that’s going to fix everything, and cost $10,000 A year. Start with a small dose and then work your way up. So you get around the nausea that way? Oh, wow. Okay, great. Anything else? Does it do anything else? These drugs do anything else to my body? Or is it really just safe and effectively, there’s nothing for me to worry about. I can just enjoy being less heavy. Well, what she failed to mention, on 60 minutes, which is going out to millions and millions and millions of people, and is more than likely, the only thing that they’re going to hear about this drug is this doctor telling people that it’s just a little bit of nausea. But that’s just flat out not true. Because here’s what’s also going on. What’s also going on is that 15% of your bodyweight, you are losing bone density, you are losing muscle mass. And it is having it lowers your metabolic rate. And when your metabolic rate goes down, I’m just going to read this from a health line article which I will also put in it leads to something called sarcopenia. sarcopenia affects the elderly population and typically is associated with aging, however, rapidly losing weight with GLP ones like ozempic and would go V without the proper diet and exercise can also cause sarcopenia, sometimes referred to as skinny fat at any age, negatively affecting a person’s quality of life and reducing their stamina and ability to perform daily activities such as easily walking upstairs, says Dr. Rebecca Kumar, practicing endocrinologist in New York City and Chief Medical Officer have found sarcopenia and sarcopenic. Obesity mimics obesity she added in occurs when a person’s BMI is in the normal or low range, but their levels of lean muscle are so low that fat in bones are the only metabolically active tissue support. Note that lower body weight does not always mean that a person is healthier. At some weight loss is achieved and a person reaches a plateau it is important to assess body composition. So it’s not safe and effective at all. You’re essentially speeding up the aging process. Is that good? Is the inability to perform regular daily activities like getting in and out of a chair, getting up off the ground, getting out of bed and going up a flight of stairs. Is that good? And as I say that if you are morbidly obese, you’re probably already experiencing challenges in those areas. So you’re just swapping one for the other? Is that good? Is any of this a solution? The answer is no. This is not a viable solution to any problem. That best simply masking or just transferring the problem from one thing to the other. So I guess fundamentally, what I think is really such an important thing to share is that this is not this is not a miracle drug or any kind of a fix. It is just masking problems. It’s kicking the can down the road. And again, you stop taking this thing and then you’re going to put the weight back on unless you’ve actually changed your lifestyle unless you’ve actually changed what you eat and how you’re moving your body. I’m very very aware that I For that I’ve been negative and mildly aggressive. But to think that we need to wake up, we need to wake up to the fact that it’s our choices that are doing that we’re doing to ourselves. And that the only solution is to make better choices. Not to inject some bullshit, to inject some bullshit into our bodies. So and then here’s, here’s the other thing that makes this even worse, this is fine. If you’re 40 years old, if you’re 30 years old, if you’re 20 years old, and you want to do this, go for it. You’re a grown ass adult, you can make your own decisions. But do not give this to children. Do not start injecting children. Now imagine that you imagine injecting a 15 year old or 10 year old with something that is going to lower their bone density. That’s, if that’s not criminal, I don’t know what it is. I think that that’s pretty scary. To close here, I want very badly for people to be healthy and happy, and to live the lives that they want. I believe that that is found. When we take personal responsibility for our lives. We practice self discipline. And we work hard in service of what matters to us. Over the past several years, I’m 44 years old. I’ve got two little kids and one on the way. I recognize that I needed to be stronger, I needed more energy, I needed to be healthier. I needed better attention and thinking. And so I changed my diet, I changed a lot of my lifestyle, I used to drink too much. Now I drink a lot less, I used to eat too much. Now I eat less. I used to not exercise as much now I exercise more. And believe it or not, that’s given me all the things that I want. It’s given me more energy, I’m stronger, I’d lose lost weight, have better attention. So it’s available to all of us. You can do it. So confident that you can do it. And you deserve. You deserve and are worthy of being a healthy person, but you’re not entitled to it. And shortcuts like this will not get you there. It will just make you a different kind of sick. To get you what you want. You need to know what you want. You need to get crystal clear in the person that you want to be. Who is it that you want to be? super basic. Too few of us have actually thought about that. What do you want your life to look like? So get pen to paper, put pen to paper, write down what you want. Every aspect of your life got a free goals course, you can access I’ll put that in the in in the notes, talks about all these things, declaring your values and your beliefs about things that will help you to make better decisions. And then you link your habits, your behaviors, to those goals, to your beliefs to your values. And you start working hard towards those things. If you’re just trying to lose weight for the sake of losing weight, it’s not going to get the job done. You need to be moving towards a better version. Something that pulls you towards you need to create a compelling vision for your future that pulls you towards it. So instead of just white knuckling through everything, gritting your teeth and trying to run through a wall, you need your that that bright future, that better future to be pulling you towards it. So again, you’re somebody who’s fully capable of being healthy. You’re somebody who’s fully capable of having the life that you want,

but you’re not going to find it through a pill or an injection or anything like that. Certainly not going to find it. The offerings from a pharmaceutical company

Don’t give this to your kids, please. Yeah, buddy. Thanks for the time. Again, you can be healthy and have whatever you want. You got to work for it. Get clear on what you want gets work getting it. Remember, you do your part, doing your best
